The TOFC U16 girls lost two close games against the top teams in their division on a weekend trip to the lower mainland July 17th and 18th. Game

Teams (Division):  TOFC vs Mountain FC

Final Score:    TOFC lost 0:1

First Game Scoring/Highlights: 

In the first game against Mountain FC, the two teams started slowly with most of the play being in the middle parts of the field with no good scoring chances early. Mountain finally got on the scoreboard late in the first half on a defensive breakdown allowing some good passing to spring the Mountain forward between two TOFC defenders for a clear shot on a defenseless keeper Shalayna Isakson. After a halftime pep talk from coach Darryl Hazell, the TOFC team started much stronger in the second half and carried the play for much of this half. They had one great chance to tie the game with the ball bouncing back and forth at the Mountain 6 yard line but nobody from TOFC was able to direct it home. The game ended in a 1-0 loss for the TOFC team.

Teams (Division): TOFC vs Coquitlam Metro-Ford FC

Final Score:    TOFC lost 0:1

The second game of the weekend, against the 1st place Coquitlam Metro-Ford FC was a far better game for the Thompson Okanagan team. The girls showed absolutely wonderful ball control during this game against the top team in the division. Thompson Okanagan did not have any outstanding chances to score due to the very strong defensive back line and keeper of the Coquitlam team, but showed excellent ball control and passing skills. This game looked like it would end in a well deserved tie.  An unfortunate turn of events allowed a breakaway by a Coquitlam forward in the late stages of the second half and again a goal on our defenseless keeper, this time Baily Weymouth. It was a huge letdown for the TOFC girls who played exceptionally well all game. All in all, the coaches were extremely happy with the play of the TOFC girls this weekend but the results just did not show on the game sheet.
