CURRENT PROGRAM STATUS August 29, 2010
Everyone,
Myrna and I would like to express our thanks for all of the positive comments regarding this year's SYL program. While we realize there were issues related to conflicts between clubs, it is our hope that everyone felt their SYL experience was a positive one.
Although we have just wrapped up the 2010 SYL season, a revision in the program means SYL tryouts for 2011 are just around the corner, with the first tryout session on Sunday, September 12. All tryouts will be held at the Rutland Sports fields in Kelowna. As the program will be managed by Kelowna United this coming year, please direct any questions to Mark Krehel or Shaun Flanagan. Their contact info is on the Kelowna United website ( www.kelownaunited.com ). Updates and program info will also be posted on the TOFC website ( www.thompsonokanaganfc.com ).
Some of you may have heard rumours regarding the development of a BC High Performance League. A committee has been struck consisting of district reps from throughout BC, as well as BC Soccer and Whitecaps representatives. This new league will represent a tremendous opportunity for all higher level players in BC. With this in mind, this year's TOFC (SYL) program is being developed to provide elite players with a high level of play for the 2011 season and to provide aspiring HPL players a quality opportunity to transition into the new league once it is formed.
